Thymuskin
Research suggests that hair loss is an autoimmune disease, where the body's immune system mistakenly identifies hair follicles as foreign tissue and attacks them. Findings show that immune system cells and hair follicle antibodies cluster around the hair follicles of balding men and women. The thymus gland, located under the breastbone, secretes thymus peptides (called thymosin) which act as immune system regulators. With aging, the thymus gland shrinks, which weakens the immune system and increases the risk of autoimmune and age-related diseases. Thymosin treatment has been shown to increase resistance to infections, cancer and other diseases, as well as promote wound healing and hair growth. ThymuSkin® contains thymosin, which is applied topically and absorbed through the scalp and into the blood. Several studies have found that thymosin promotes hair growth in normal and aged rodents. A 2004 study examined the effects of thymosin on hair follicle stem cell growth. "Taken together, our results suggest that thymosin beta4 exerts a profound hair-promoting effect through a combined action on several critical events in hair follicle growth such as stem cell migration, ECM-degrading enzyme production, and differentiation," the study authors write. ThymuSkin® is applied daily as a shampoo and/or treatment gel. To produce hair regrowth, it should be applied for up to 18 months and does not need to be continued indefinitely. ThymuSkin® works best in the early stages of thinning hair, before the hair follicles have entered a permanent dormant state. Side effects have not been reported with ThymuSkin® products. An effective hair loss treatment would be to use ThymuSkin® in conjunction with Advecia or Procerin, all-natural hair loss supplements. Since Advecia and Procerin target DHT and 5-alpha-reductase, when combined with ThymuSkin® they may help increase the rate of hair growth. REFERENCES:
